Designer-toy convention season (DesignerCon and regional art-toy fairs historically) is where exclusives, artist sofubi, and collaboration colorways appear before — or instead of — evergreen blind box retail. Soft plush blind boxes on specialty shops fill the opposite need: year-round sealed series with published odds, no travel required.

How to Use Both Lanes
- Conventions: chase artist editions, hand-painted variants, meetups, trades in person
- Online sealed retail: Nommi/Maymei/BJD blind boxes with roster math and shipping
- Budget: set a con spend separate from monthly sealed-box cap
Bring a want-list; impulse exclusives plus home sealed hauls are how collections overflow storage.
